NCC extends LeBreton Flats proposal deadline

The National Capital Commission is extending the deadline for proposals for the next phase of development at LeBreton Flats.

Citing “a greater expression of interest than expected” and developers’ requests for more time to prepare proper submissions, the NCC said this week it has extended the deadline from Dec. 5 of this year until Jan. 7, 2015.

The NCC announced in late September it was inviting the private sector to imagine a world-class, inspirational destination at the 9.3-hectare site just south of the Canadian War Museum that demonstrates “design excellence and innovation.”

In addition, the NCC is also asking for a planning outlook on another 12.3 hectares to the west of that site.

The invitation is step one of the process. Successful proponents will be short-listed and invited to submit a more detailed design complete with a financial proposal.
