A massive real estate deal involving one of the world’s largest retailers, several up-and-coming tech firms and Canada’s most valuable publicly traded company are among the 2020 recipients of the Best Ottawa Business Awards.
The BOBs, as the annual honours have come to be known, are an annual celebration of the most accomplished businesses and executives in the National Capital Region. The awards are a joint initiative of the Ottawa Business Journal and the Ottawa Board of Trade.
In addition to the companies named below, the 2020 BOBs will also celebrate CEO of the Year John Sicard of Kinaxis; Lifetime Achievement Award winner Rob Ashe, the former CEO of Cognos; CFO of the Year Julie Morin of Minto Apartment REIT; and the newsmaker of the year, e-commerce powerhouse Shopify, which reported record revenues and profits in its most recent quarter and has surpassed RBC to become the country’s most valuable publicly traded company by market capitalization.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year’s best in Ottawa business are set to be honoured in a one-hour live broadcast on YouTube and Rogers TV rather than at a traditional gala. The broadcast will be followed by a live after-party featuring many of the recipients.
To find out the categories each company won, tune in on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m.
