The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre is one of Canada’s most progressive and successful long-term care homes. Perley Rideau is home to more than 600 seniors and veterans who access a range of care and living options. The Perley Rideau Foundation raises money to improve the quality of life for seniors and veterans in direct and significant ways. Donations to the Foundation support and meet the long-term needs of our aging population through Canada’s first Centre of Excellence in Frailty-Informed Care.

How you can help

Fundraising

Answering the Call is a major fundraising campaign to transform care for our country’s fastest-growing population, frail seniors.

This campaign will invest in much-needed research and evidence-based innovation to improve and influence care for frail, older Canadians at The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre and beyond.

Canadians in the military, on the front lines of healthcare and elsewhere, have a long history of answering the call in times of conflict, human suffering and crisis.

We’re hoping our community will answer the call to address this urgent crisis and to help ensure that seniors receive the care they have earned and deserved.

Funding Priorities

Perley Rideau publishes an annual priority needs list comprised of equipment and services not funded by government but essential to excellent care.

One service on the list is our Therapeutic Recreation and Creative Arts program--among the finest in any Canadian long-term care home— this program contributes greatly to resident’s quality of life and compelling evidence suggests that recreation and creative arts activities trigger significant mental and physical health benefits.

In appreciation of the important work done by staff at the Perley Rideau, CN Rail donated $10,000 as a matching gift to the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund — a gift matched in no time at all thanks to the generosity of the community. The COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund ensures residents, staff and their loved ones stay safe during the pandemic by providing additional PPE and housekeeping staff to enhanced cleaning measures and new meal helpers.
