Carleton Place: The charming small town where heritage and nature intertwine
Whether you’re looking to get away for the day or a long weekend, Carleton Place is a friendly town that offers plenty of options for anyone.
The inspiration: “When I think about both senior care and veterans care, these are important issues facing all Canadians as we have many residents aging. The focus on senior care aligns with the mandate of BMO, which is to ‘boldly grow the good in business and life,’” says Riccardo Campagna, regional vice-president, personal banking, BMO.
The Perley Health Centre of Excellence in Frailty-Informed Care enhances the quality of life for seniors living with frailty, thanks to the commitment of partners such as Bank of Montreal.
The centre, which is the first of its kind in Canada, conducts groundbreaking research and hosts leading academic institutions and dedicated researchers. The team has translated its findings into tangible and positive outcomes for seniors living with frailty in Ottawa and across the country.
“BMO is the official bank of the Canadian Armed Forces and the fact the research is shared to help veterans and seniors across Canada is something that makes the donation even more impactful,” says Campagna.
“The frailty care research and the quality of life for our seniors is a wonderful way to make the most of the BMO donation to the Perley Health Foundation,” adds Campagna.
In recognition of BMO’s support, the learning centre has been named the BMO Innovation Hub. The space serves as a focal point for research, collaboration and community engagement. Staff and students use the room for many initiatives, including a virtual reality (VR) project involving vision training for older adults. Participants meet with staff who help facilitate the training up to three times a week.
“BMO’s steadfast support has been instrumental in driving innovation and excellence within our centre, ultimately making a profound impact on the lives of older veterans and seniors living with frailty in Canada,” says Delphine Hasle, executive director and chief development officer with the Perley Health Foundation.
“Our main champion at BMO is Riccardo Campagna and he truly believes in our mission to empower an engaged donor community to transform the quality of life of seniors and veterans. We are fortunate Mr. Campagna is also a member of the Perley Health Foundation board of directors,” adds Hasle.
